Dr. Melanie A. Bennett-Sims, M.D.

OPHTHALMOLOGY

Dr. Bennett-Sims is an experienced ophthalmologist, trained in cornea care, LipiFlow, glaucoma and dry-eye services. She specializes in all areas of her field, diagnosing and treating patients of all ages for a wide range of conditions. With 12+ years’ experience in her field, Dr. Bennett-Sims’s extensive expertise makes her a trusted medical professional, demonstrated further by the dedication and care she gives to each patient’s individual case.

Dr. Bennett-Sims graduated from Morehouse School of Medicine in Atlanta, Georgia in 2003 with a Doctorate in Medicine. She then went on to complete her postgraduate training at the University of Florida College of Medicine and a residency at the MedStar Georgetown University Hospital and MedStar Washington Hospital Center. She was then awarded a fellowship to train at The Johns Hopkins Wilmer Eye Institute in Baltimore, Maryland, obtaining a board certification in ophthalmology with the American Board of Ophthalmology.

After completing her education, Dr. Bennett-Sims joined CarlinVision, the most prestigious and experienced eye care practice in Gwinnett County, Georgia. Her work at the practice is focused on dry eye diseases and cornea issues. She also serves at Eastside Medical Center.

Additionally, Dr. Bennett-Sims runs a Dry Eye Service in which she uses the newest technology such as Lipiflow and tear osmolarity, for diagnosing and treating dry eye issues.

Dr. Bennett-Sims is a member of the accredited American Academy of Ophthalmology and the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery. This membership allows her to remain at the forefront of the challenging field of ophthalmology. She is also a member of Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Society.

In further recognition of her dedication and contributions to the field of ophthalmology, Continental Who’s Who have named Dr. Melanie Bennett-Sims a Pinnacle Lifetime Achiever in the field of Medicine as Ophthalmologist at Carlin Vision.

Outside of work, Dr. Bennett-Sims dedicates her time to drawing, quilting, running, skiing and sailing. She also participated in the NYC and Atlanta Marathons. She is also passionate about giving back to her community, being an activist for Sjogren’s syndrome, an autoimmune disease that attacks the glands that create tears and saliva.
